Lucien Piccard was established in Switzerland in 1923 with a manufacturing philosophy that blended Swiss watchmaking with high-fashion jewelry. For decades that combination defined the brand, producing elegant dress and cocktail watches — many in solid gold, some set with gemstones or hidden beneath decorative covers — that remain sought after by vintage collectors today. Like many Swiss watch manufacturers, Lucien Piccard struggled with the rise of quartz watches in the 1970s. Its U.S. parent company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2010, and the brand was later revived by Swiss Watch International.
