Luxury Time For Less® acquired this excellent-condition Lucien Piccard from the daughter of its last owner. That owner took good care of the watch and must have stored it in the original box, which is sold with the watch. The daughter chose not to wear it, and the watch’s well-preserved state confirms it.

The watch is covered by a floral-patterned 14kt yellow gold cover, a design indicative of timepieces manufactured in the 1950s and 1960s.

Condition and Details

The oval 14kt yellow gold case measures 15 mm × 17 mm excluding the crown, and is 12 mm thick including the spring-secured floral-patterned cover. Beneath the cover is a silver dial with 14kt yellow gold hands and diamond-shaped 14kt yellow gold hour markers (not diamond-set), under an acrylic crystal. The 14kt yellow gold crown carries the Lucien Piccard “LP” insignia, and the solid caseback is 14kt yellow gold.

Inside is a Swiss-made manual-wind movement with approximately 30 hours of power reserve. The case is not water resistant, so this is a watch to keep dry. The 14kt yellow gold bracelet closes with a 14kt yellow gold safety-lock clasp and is currently sized for a 6-inch wrist. It comes with its original Lucien Piccard box; no papers.

Lucien Piccard was established in Switzerland in 1923, with a manufacturing philosophy that blended Swiss watchmaking with high-fashion jewelry. That combination dominated its production for decades — and it is on full display in pieces like this one.

Like many Swiss watch manufacturers, Lucien Piccard struggled with the development of quartz watches in the 1970s. Its U.S. parent company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2010, and the brand was later revived by Swiss Watch International.
